Customer Requirement

The customer was looking for a concrete placing boom for a construction project in Kinshasa, DRC. The initial inquiry was for a 20 m model with a 3 m end hose, mainly to cover the concrete pouring area more conveniently during building construction.

Rather than simply matching the requested boom length, our technical team reviewed the actual working requirements and considered the space available for equipment positioning. The customer needed a boom that could provide sufficient coverage while remaining compact and easy to move around the construction site.

Our Solution

Based on the working range and mobility requirements of the project, our engineers proposed a 16.5 m wheel type concrete placing boom instead of the initially requested 20 m model.

The 16.5 m boom provides a 360° slewing range and 0–90° elevation angle, giving the operator considerable flexibility when adjusting the concrete discharge position. A 3 m end hose extends the practical placing range and makes it easier to reach different pouring points.

The boom adopts a three-section design with a 6500/5500/4500 mm arm arrangement. The 4000 × 4000 mm outrigger span provides stable support during operation, while both panel control and radio remote control are available for convenient operation from different positions around the working area.

After discussing the configuration with our technical team, the customer agreed that the HGY17 model was sufficient for the project and chose this configuration for the final order.

Customer Feedback

“The HGY17 boom works well for our site. It gives us enough reach without taking up too much space. The radio remote control is also very convenient, especially when we need to adjust the boom during concrete placement.”

Conclusion

This project shows the importance of selecting concrete placing equipment according to the actual working conditions rather than simply focusing on maximum reach. With a suitable working range, compact structure, and flexible operation, the 16.5 m concrete placing boom provided a practical solution for the customer's construction site.

Its combination of flexible coverage, convenient operation, and stable performance makes it a suitable choice for concrete placement applications where space and positioning flexibility are important.
